Our Mission
Our 3 Goals
01
Educate Youth
Investing in young generations is the best way to lay groundwork for the future, and the bees need our help. Viva Abejas is an initiative with a global reach, and the purchase of any food or drink, children’s book, or Hive adoption drives us all towards a better future.
02
Support Our Partners
For our past spring campaigns we have partnered and driven donations to World Bee Project, for their organization’s incredible work and technology. By supporting our mission, we all work together to promote and educate the value of bees to our daily lives and food system.
03
Supportive Food Development
Since 2022, our guests have enjoyed bee-centric food & drink collections, while learning about the importance of education & awareness for the wellbeing of bees.
Since it’s formation, Viva Abejas has acted as a platform for education and sustainability foremost. Chef Sandoval’s passion for culinary excellence works harmoniously with this goal, as food often acts as a unifying experience in life, community, and education. Our food and drink capsule collections act as only a delicious component in raising awareness and educating the next generations about the importance of bees to the food cycle and maintaining the health of our ecosystems and earth.
How It All Started
Chef Richard Sandoval is a global pioneer in contemporary Latin cuisine. His career as a chef, restaurateur and entrepreneur also includes serving as a television personality, cookbook author, brand ambassador and philanthropist. He is internationally acclaimed for his innovative approach in combining Latin ingredients with modern culinary techniques to create award-winning flavors that span 60 locations and 4 continents.
Because our food system heavily depends on bees, and one in every three bites of food depends on bees for pollination, Chef Sandoval knew that we needed to try to move the needle. As a restaurant group focused on Latin cuisine, bees are important, as they are major pollinators of the agave plant and avocados. Writing his first children’s book, partnering with locations for field trips and educational courses, and creating conscious food specials are a few ways he is walking the talk.
